Books in Print by My Clients: Marianne Rothschild, MD
Among the best testimonials I can think of are the books by my clients that are now in print (also e-book and audiobook formats). Each of these authors was originally a first-time author, who had dreams and fears around writing a book that may be similar to yours. But they persisted over time, working with me in online or in-person sessions, gradually coming to a place of resonance with what wanted to be written, in a way that most deeply fit who the author was. And the manuscript grew and grew, until the author could genuinely pen “The End.”
And then the Writing phase was complete, and they went on to the Production phase (getting the book ready to be printed — editing, proofreading, design, illustration, typesetting, etc.). And then it was in print, available to people all over the world to read, learn from, heal through, and enjoy.
Following is the book written by my client Marianne Rothschild, MD. Even if your book is only a wish, a call in your heart, at this point, be encouraged for its similar success.
Dancing with the Rhythms of Life: A Holistic Doctor’s Guide for Women, by Marianne Rothschild, MD. Published by Gaia Healing, 2020.
Marianne Rothschild, a holistic physician who had once been a midwife, was referred to me by my client Jenaii Gold. Marianne arrived with a rough manuscript that was top-heavy with information — but she herself was a vibrant, warm, engaging human being, and I noticed the contrast. Like most of my clients, she had never written a book before, and had assumed that the “expert” role put forth by so many nonfiction authors was what she was supposed to emulate.
“But you’re so much more than that,” I told her. “Even your patients say so, based on what you’ve told me.”
And it was true. Her patients felt truly listened to by her when they arrived at her home for an appointment — that she heard all of who they were, and this contributed to their regaining wellness. So Marianne rewrote large portions of her book, over time, to include her own reflections, stories, and a more animated account of her time spent with her patients. The book started coming to life, while still containing the professional expertise of the original draft.
“By the time my patients are sitting with me in my office,” she wrote in the book’s final Prologue, “they have already traveled down winding country roads through vistas of gently rolling hills and walked the fifty yards of gravel pathway through the garden to my office door. Many have told me how much they enjoy the experience of coming to my office. I am convinced that Mother Nature does a good job of the healing before I even see them.
“Then we sit together. I ask them to tell me why they have come. And I am quiet and listen. I listen until they are complete. Some people have never been able to tell their whole story. After years of listening to patients tell their stories, I have learned that if I listen long enough and carefully enough, people will not only tell me what is going on but also what they need to get better. . . .”
Working with Marianne as a new author: Marianne’s willingness to put herself and her patients more relatably into the picture, and to let go of wooden “should” versions of the earlier manuscript, endeared her to me as much as did her warmth and animation. As with so many of my clients’ books-in-progress, we went back and forth, trying out this way and that until a sense of rightness settled in and we knew that section was a keeper. Her latent storytelling abilities surfaced easily, once she understood that her presence had a place in her book. The result? A handbook for women, immensely helpful in terms of becoming and staying healthy, and a deeply immersive experience to read.

Reader praise for the book:
”Dr. Rothschild’s Dancing with the Rhythms of Life reads just as she practices medicine, reflecting her wise intuition and talented diagnostic skills. Easy to read, this book shares stories of how patients are helped to resolve their health issues. How refreshing in this day and age!” — Heather Wurzer, Certified Holistic Health Coach
“Dancing with the Rhythms of Life is so easy to read. The conversational style really pulls you in, and the advice is a natural part of the conversation. The examples and stories make it real and relatable. The result is readers are treated as if they have intelligence. Often treated as if ordinary people just can’t understand, Rothschild leaps over this and makes it clear that you can. This is a great gift especially when our health is front and center.” — Madelyn Blair, PhD, author, Unlocked: Discover How to Embrace the Unexpected
The author on working with me: “Thank you for your tender care guiding me through the birth of my book — a long labor but/and one I couldn’t have done alone.” — Marianne Rothschild, MD
